She's Here!

Our little bundle, Brynn Alise born April 17th at 5:55pm. We arrived at the hospital at about 6:00am and started the pitocin. That was fun playing the waiting game! We opted to do induction becuase when I went to my appointment just 3days earlier the Doc. said that I wasn't even dilated and that she was floating. So 90% chance that I'll have a c-section just becuase of how I've been at my appointments. It didn't help that the doctor also said that one girl spent 14hrs in labor and pushed for 3 and ended up having to get a c-section anyway.

Well I didn't want to get sliced if I didn't have to so we decided to try inducing me first. We arrived at the hospital at 6:00a.m. and got things started with pitocin. It just seemed like things were not progressing until about 12:00 then my water broke. I just looked at my mom with wide eyes "something's wet" I know I didn't have an accident but had no idea what was going on. Sure enough the nurse came in (which I loved having as my nurse)and checked and it was my water. Then the contractions started to get worse after that. All I can say is thank goodness for epidurals! It was so nice. You know having the iv placed was worse than having the epidural, surpisingly.


Things just went smooth from then on out. The anesthesiologist said that this should help things progress and help me calm down. Around 3:00pm the Doctor came in and checked me --- Nothing! maybe a fingertip he said. I wasn't dilated at all. I started crying when he left, I was so tired from the night before because I hadn't slept at all (how can you sleep when you are about to become a parent?), I didn't want to get a c-section but understood that if that's what it came down to I would do it for the benefit of us both. I think I was more worried though becuase when we went for an ultrasound the lady said the baby's about 8lbs. 8lbs! That's a big baby for my tiny body! And I was thinking that she couldn't fit through. I was also thinking about what everyone said--the doctor about the labor, my previous appointments, being exhausted. All combined I just couldn't handle it.

At 4:00 the Doc. checked me again and was SHOCKED that I was dilated to a 4. YIPPEE! So we continued the pit and were now just waiting. at 5:30 I felt a lot of pressure and it just kept getting constant so I called in the nurse and she checked me "Holy ____, your there, your ready to push" We all laughed becuase of her expression. So after 20min. she finally arrived. It was a special experience to share with Tom, and I'm so glad that my mom was there for support also I really couldn't have asked for anything better

There's nothing like a mom around! It was so nice having her there at the hospital while Tom was at school. She was a trooper to come in for two days and just sit (BORING), but just having someone there was so comforing.

April Showers!

It's Finally Beginining to warm up! Monday I went to the Dr.'s. I still havent made any progress and am getting to the point of being very uncomfortable. It's officially my 38th week and although I'm not too big, I feel big. I can't bend over to tie my shoes or paint my toe nails (although Tom graciously offered, what a sweetie). I have to squat to pick things up, that nothing new. I'm tired to waking up at least three times during the night to go to the bathroom, and feeling fatigued most of the time. You know my pregnancy hasn't been as bad as I hear others' so I really cannot complain. March has been a crazy month for the Bigelow's. I just can't believe its already over. Tom went for an interview for a position in Rupert, Idaho on the 25th. He thought it went well and we have high hopes for the acceptance phone call/e-mail but are not going to get our hopes too high. It would be great to work there becuase we are close to family and it's a great location (anything close to the water is great for him). If that doesn't work out we will be going to Montana where there is a defininte position for Tom to work at a sattelite office for a dentist he knows, that'll be about 2 years. He was gone for about 4 days and every night was lonely without him. We are in the process of getting our house on the market (yes it's still not done) so Tom cleaned the carpets and we've tried to organize our stuff, we still have yet to get a realtor out here to look at the house.
I had a wonderful baby shower at the end of March. Which by the way thank you to Michele, Jen and Radene for taking the time to make it great. It was so fun with games and food (the cake was yummy!). It was so nice to just have girl time. Since I hardly ever get out due to work or that I'm just so tired that all I feel like doing is vegging out. Everyone's gift was much appreciated, but I'd have to say my favorite is probably this adorable hand crochetted (however you spell it) little green dress that a very close and special person made for me. It is so adorable! But it could be that the person responsible for the tiny outfit is my sister, and I'm just partial to her gift. I just cannot believe that she made it SO CUTE! Brynn is going to look so adorable in it.

37 weeks

I cannot believe how big my belly is! It looks so big compared to previous pics we've taken. I'm just amazed at how much she's grown over the past couple of weeks. Not too long and the little peanut will be here. I'm just hoping that she isn't a big baby becuase I'm afraid it's going to be hard enough with how little I am. I'm feeling anxious about the whole thing too. We didn't do a Lamaze class or any parent prep becuase I was too lazy to schedule one and I didn't feel that it was absolutley necessary that we did it. I dunno, maybe it would have benefited Tom more than me in being prepared. My concern is that he won't know what to do (which is what I'm expecting right now) becuase I don't know what to do. I just will be happy that he will be there giving me support and encouragement. But seriously, when you are in that much pain, are you really going to think of the techniques they teach you in those classes?

Our New car

We, when I say we I mean mostly Tom, have been looking into getting a more dependable vehicle since our Honda it getting quite a few miles racked up on it. After looking for what seemed like months Tom came across a car on e-bay that the seller bought for a friend as a favor and his friend never came through. After debating about it on what to do we decided to go ahead and talk the guy down to a reasonable price. Tom talked to him about negociating a selling price and before we could buy it someone hit the buy it now button. So no big deal, I wasn't going to get dissapointed about it.


Well Tom called a day later to see if the car had sold and come to find out the guy that hit the buy it now button couldn't come up with the cash. I started to get really excited because this car had low miles (13,000), the title was clean it was in good condition, and we could afford it after checking into insurance, licensing all that stuff that goes with it. Originally the seller was asking 12,500 for it. Tom was able to talk him down to 11,500. Off to Columbus we went for the weekend. It was a little dissapointing to learn that the car had cigarette burns in most of the seats (the seller did not mention after Tom had asked). Some worse than others, but tolerable. Still it looked clean. But we weren't going to jump into something that's such a big purchase without consulting with family, each other and prayer. But we did our research and prayed, talked with family and decided that this is something we both wanted and could be happy with. When we got back from test driving it Tom was able to talk him down $500 bucks becuase of the burns in the seats he had asked about. ANd the seller did feel bad. But we found ourselved driving home with a 2007 ford fusion SE four door sedan with 2yr warranty still on it!


We got the inside detailed becuase it just felt a little dirty to us. What a difference it makes. We were going to do it ourselves but I'm glad we didn't. Becuase I was going to rent one of those steam cleaners for carpets and just get an attatchment for upholstry and I didn't know that the top of the car is basically like cardboard. So if you soak it, well you know what cardboard does when its wet. but we are very excited about our purchase and are very happy with the results so far. We plan on having it for a LONG time.
